Luckily not. The fieldbus update time of the controller is usually 1ms (e.g. with PROFINET). With all radio systems except DATAEAGLE, this fieldbus update time must be adjusted due to latency in order to achieve stable radio communication. As a rule, it is increased to 128ms- 2.4s.

However, DATAEAGLE radio systems from Schildknecht have patented data pre-processing that reliably transmits the fieldbus protocol data from PROFINET, EthernET/IP and CAN bus despite increased and fluctuating latency. Due to this, the fieldbus update times do not need to be adjusted for DATAEAGLE radio systems. By avoiding packet loss and associated fieldbus errors, a restart of the control system or a standstill of the plant is avoided in industrial wireless applications.
